Matthew Lani is now a free man as the costs of identification fraud and impersonating a medical physician have been dropped.
The Nationwide Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that the case has been withdrawn after the Tik Tok physician made his first look within the Johannesburg Justice of the Peace’s Courtroom on Tuesday.
“He was doing no matter he was doing on TikTok for leisure — it’s not impersonation and it’s not a criminal offense,” Mabunda stated, including that the claims had been baseless as nobody had come ahead to say Lani had prescribed any remedy for them,” Lani’s lawyer Dumisani Mabunda stated.
“The hospitals, the least they may have completed was to perhaps ban him going to hospitals and taking movies and, if he had been to proceed with that, then that might be trespassing and they might have a case towards him.”
“However, HPCSA [Health Professions Council of South Africa], the least they may have completed was perhaps to interdict him or cease him from doing these movies,” he stated.
